It’s nice to get out of your sphere and have a glimpse of what others are doing. At some point you find yourself looking at the same old, same old, from the same designers, thinking Wow, great, but… Listening to music helps, but then again don’t you find yourself invariably listening to the same artists after a while?

So here’s what I propose: In the spirit of my upcoming departure to South Korea, let’s look at some of the more prominent Korean graphic designers’ work and hey, maybe they’ll spark some creative bubbles!

1. 601BISANG

If I’m not mistaken, I believe this is the flower of Korea, the Hibiscus syriacus.
When in bloom, they are absolutely to-die-for gorgeous.

2. AHN SANGWOO

3. NOONDESIGN.COM

4. SHIN DOKHO

5. STUDIODUMBAR.CO.KR

New road signage in South Korea, developed by Studio Dumbar. We all know signage can often look very boring and uninspired. However, they used fitting fonts.

6. SULKI-MIN.COM

7. TYPEPAGE.COM

I know the top bit means “Seoul”. As for the bottom parts… I think it’s “Art Center”…?

My basic Korean says this says Oasis. How can we talk about Asian design without including some calligraphy? keke
